CHOOSING A CUE PLAYER

When a show-control system is more than you need.

QLab is the professional standard for theatre and live production, and deservedly so: timelines, video, lighting and network control, all in one workspace. Many events don’t need any of that. They need a reliable list of audio clips and a calm way to fire them. That is all Cue Magic tries to be.

Choose QLab when

You are programming a production: synchronized video and lighting, complex audio routing, timed sequences, show-control protocols, or a dedicated operator running a cue stack from a script. QLab is built for that work and the people who do it.

Choose Cue Magic when

The presenter is the operator. A teacher, speaker, facilitator or host running their own audio between other tasks.

Your library is already folders. Cue Magic uses your existing folders as playlists rather than a separate show file.

You want just three end behaviors. Each clip Stops, Loops or plays Next — with an optional fade on Space.

You need to find a moment in long recordings. Bookmarks and searchable transcripts take you to a spoken line, not just the start of a file.

Use both

Plenty of technicians use a full show-control system in the booth and a lightweight player for rehearsals, green rooms, pre-show and the presenter’s own laptop. Cue Magic keeps its settings in a sidecar file beside your audio, so the folder stays usable in any player.
